It's possible Ike was just weaned too early.
My cat's mother died after she had her litter. My cat's entire life
(he's 15 now) he's gone through what I call his baby moments. He has
his own stuffed dog he claimed as a kitten that he sucks on while
kneading his paws.
Anyway, he also tends to do this more often when something isn't
quite right with him. I did read somewhere that regression to
immature behavior is something zoo workers watch for.
So maybe just keep an eye out for any other symptoms of something
being wrong. And maybe try applying a little bitter apple to the
edges of Mike's ears.
I wonder if Ike might take to a stuffed animal that's rubbed around
Mike's face and ears.
