Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] aggressive ferret, prozac dosage?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I had a biter for almost a year. When he drew blood on my chin (too close to
the eyes), I was afraid he'd really hurt one of my grandkids. I gave him to
a rescue lady, who sent him to Portland (Oregon) for evaluation. Problem? He
was deaf and this was a defense mode. He was placed in a forever special
foster home for deaf ferrets.
I then had a second one the next year who was also a biter. I located a
woman who's ferret had lost his cagemate. I explained his issue with her and
she seemed like a perfect mate. I would not let her go to just any home.
When she came to pick up Jesse, she held her in her arms for about 10
minutes while we talked. Jesse didn't move a muscle! She would not let any
one of us hold her for more than 20 seconds! I was amazed and so happy!!! My
household was just not a good match for her. On her trip home, Jesse got out
of her carrier, got onto the ladys lap, and stayed there all the way home;
never even a nip....
She and her new cagemate were perfect together and no more biting.
I'm sure there are any number of reasons but these were my experiences. It
broke my heart to give them up but I knew I had to....
Good luck and let us know....

God bless,
Linda
