Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferrets and acupuncture
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Some of you may remember me, I'm the one with the boy who is paralyzed
from an injection of Ivermectin. I'm wondering if anyone has any
success with acupuncture? I found a vet who does acupuncture on dogs
and cats and agreed to try my boy Koda. I'm in a non ferret state, so
it was harder to find a more specialized vet. Koda has had 2
treatments so far, one a week, and does real well holding still. He
does feel the needles, which is good, but with a little ferretone, he
stays still real good. The second time, the vet tried something
called "moxi" or moxibustion. It's where they light a long cigar type
thing, and hold it up to the needle to warm it. It's suppose to help
more with the blood flow, but so far I haven't seen any improvements.
The vet did say it usually takes at least until the 3rd visit to see
any changes, so hopefully after the next visit we will see something.
There's no guarentee it will work, but I have to at least try to do
everything I can for him.
So does anyone have any experiences with ferrets and acupuncture?
