I have a 4.5 year old male that has had two acupuncture treatments.
The first treatment lasted for around a hour (usually last 5 to 20
minutes?) and the second treatment lasted for around half an hour.
His tongue was purple and dry due to heart problems (and likely
lymphoma) and the vet was wanting his tongue to become pink and
moist. He was sedated for the first, but not the second treatment.
While his tongue is still somewhat lavender, it is moist and he
obviously feels much better. The goal was to improve circulation.
He is also on Chinese herbs, glandulars, tumeric and pred (for
lymphoma), heart meds and metoclopromide to push his food through,
but I do feel the acupuncture helped him.
Shinsei's lymph nodes, and possibly other growths in his neck, were
so bad last summer he could no longer drink water and stopped eating
his food. He had difficulty breathing at times. He could manage to
get soup down, maybe because of the consistency, and that has
sustained him since.
