To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi,

I don't have experience with ferrets and acupuncture, however, I do have
a lot of experience with acupuncture and I do have 6 ferrets. My sister
is an acupuncturist who works with humans.

I can assure you the acupuncture will help although it may not remove
the paralysis altogether. You don't say whether Koda is paraplegic or
quadraplegic. I am assuming that the Ivermectin caused neural damage.
It may take a while for the brain to restore the wiring or create new
neural pathways. It depends on the damage and where it actually
occurred i.e., motor cortex, etc. The acupuncture will help for
certain to make him feel better and is excellent to manage pain.

I would discourage the moxibustion since it has not proved very
effective in clinical trials although acupuncture has. Any alternative
treatment does take time and one needs to be patient. Sometimes results
are quite startling, other times its slow improvement over time.

Try and be patient, allow the acupuncture time to work. You have
nothing to lose and much to gain.

If Koda is paraplegic you may want to investigate getting him a set of
wheels that will help with his rehabilitation. The Ferret Flyer is an
excellent ferret wheelchair that is custom made to your ferret. The

Best wishes for Koda's recovery and let us know how he does.

Best Regards,

Tressie
