I have to strongly agree. We had two males block due
to adrenal disease (prostate enlargement is a male problem)
and for one of them the blocking was his first sign.

For adrenal growths surgery is usually best, but there are
medical approaches. Dr. Sue mentioned the most affordable
component, melatonin, already.

Here is more info:

and there are other such posts in the archives

We have had two ferrets who had bladder stones. In the case
of both bladder x-rays showed the uroliths were there. Not
all stones cause changes in the bladder pH, but when stones
are present it is essential to know which type they are because
after removal the husbandry changes (and sometimes
medication) differ widely depending on the type of stone. We
have those two whose protein levels have to be kept no hogher
than 35% because of the type they get. Others have to increase
animal protein levels and decrease plant food sources because
of another type. You get the idea.

So, I strongly agree from personal experience, but as a non-vet
with the ferret vet who replied to you, Dr. Sue.
