Subject: [ferrethealth] stones, unable to pee
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

A urinalysis can diagnosis crystals and the type. Stones can show
up on radiographs, as might an enlarged prostate or some other type of
blockage--a tumor for example. Ultrasound can also show these things.

If it *is* adrenal, surgery wouldn't immediately fix things because
the hormones have to flush out of the body. You'd want the injection
to kickstart things.

Keep in mind that if he is not passing any urine at all this is truly
a medical emergency. The vet will need to proceed as for a blocked
male cat.

If your vet is not ferret knowledgeable you should really find one
who is. It may initially be more expensive but by solving the problem
quickly you wind up saving money and pain (for the ferret!)
