No, it's not normal. There is a disease called adrenal disease that
causes baldness in ferrets. See a good ferret vet about it. At his age
surgery is probably out of the question but there are medical treatments
for it, Lupron, Deslorien(If you can get it) and Melatonin implants. The
hair is not a big deal, but if it is a male his prostate will probably
swell making it impossible to pee and if it is a female her vulva will
swell aand she will develope aplastic anemia. So you want to get it treated.
