Definitely like everyone said, go to the vet and see if they can
palpate an adrenal gland tumor.

Other than that, where is your ferret losing hair? If it is balding in
a symmetrical pattern, that's indicative of adrenal disease. If it's
just a few spots, you might have a different problem.

One weird story I have - I have a 7 year old who lost a LOT of hair so
I thought she was adrenal. Well, after a month or two of more hair
being gone....never acting "adrenal"....she grew back ALL of her hair
and is the fluffiest ferret I have ever seen (except for angoras!).
For some reason she had a lapse between shedding and growing her new coat.
