Subject: [ferrethealth] Adrenal males, prostates, and pred
Hypothetically speaking, if there was a male ferret with adrenal issues
whose prostate suddenly became enlarged and it blocked his ability to
urinate and he couldn't be rushed to the vet immediately, but a person
were to have some prednisone/prednisolone on hand, could the ferret be
given a few doses of prednisone to help bring the enlarging of the
prostate down for a day or two until the ferret could be taken to the
vet? What other measures could be taken to help the ferret until it
could see a vet?
I have an adrenal male currently and he's doing just fine but I always
have to think of worst-case scenarios, considering that our vet is an
hour's drive away and the weather is getting snowy.
Thank you,
