My all-time favorite ferret Dooker was diagnosed as adrenal at age 11 months old ... not only that, it was bilateral, and on one side had grown up into the lower lobe of the liver, and into the vena cava. He had a magnificent fur coat - due, no doubt, to a testosterone level on his Tennessee panel 2.5 times the high cutoff for an unneutered male ... we caught it due to his behavior - severe aggression, and mating behavior. Although the adrenals were quite large, they were sent for biopsy, to confirm the diagnosis and to rule out cancer ...A few months after surgery he mellowed out and became the sweetest, most loving ferret anyone could want, but retained his ferrety talent for mischief ... so, yes, they can get it quite young.
