Subject: [ferrethealth] Surgery or Not
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Missy has been taking Lupron shots because the veterinarian said that
surgery was too risky for adrenal gladns and, unfortunately, I did not
know any better at the time.
I noticed that her belly became distended recently and discussed this
with the veterinarian yesterday when she had her Lupron injection. She
felt around on her belly and said that she did not think that it was
her adrenal glands - she thinks it is an enlarged spleen and a growth
on her kidneys.
She took a cbc and complete blood panel. She called and said that the
readings did not look good and does not recommend surgery. She gave me
a few over the phone: albunin 3.0 Bun 30 creatin 1.1 anemic at 36% low
calcium and low potassium. I am supposed to pick up the rest of the
results at 6:00 pm this evening.
Based upon that fact, is she a high risk for surgery? She still has a
wonderful appetite, normal bowel movements. She is, however,
lethargic - plays by digging in her dirt box (no jumping around)and
sleeps most of the time.
