Surely that cannot be a good reason to remove the ferrets natural
defence mechanism. Imagine that your ferret gets outside and is
approched by a dog or large cat with evil intent, that poof could
enable the ferret to make a quick escape.
As I have reiterated ad nauseum, no vet in the UK would do this
procedure except for a medical reason.
I still do not understand US ferrets prediliction for doing this, in 9
years of being owned by ferrets I have never experienced a poof,
not even with new introduction squabbles.
