Last year I contacted Bayer to get information about Advantix (it contains permethrin in Hungary, too but amount is not stated on their webpage) used on ferrets after seeing the product being advertised for them. According to them it was tested on a large number of ferrets and found safe. I can remember the test itself as -according to my knowledge- three of my sons took part in it.
I know permethrin is dangerous for cats since their body can't break it down and remains in the liver, which depending on the amount and the number of times used can be fatal for them. According to Bayer (and our experience) it's not the case for ferrets as they probably have different metabolism.

On the other hand, there's a product in Hungary which used to be very popular for its cheapness also containing permethrin and sometimes reported to cause poisoning in dogs, too if used the way it's recommended in its manual. But unfortunately, I can't find the description of it so I can tell the exact amount it contains. :(

Notice that between continents products with the same names do NOT always have the same
ingredients:

Hi Gaba,
Can you give us the ingredients of advantix over there.
The US version of Advantix is NOT safe for ferrets or cats, but
the US version of Advantage (by Bayer) is safe for ferrets.
Please lets us know what is in the European advantix.
