Subject: [ferrethealth] Possibly Sick Ferret - need advice
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hey all. I have become pretty concerned about one of
my ferrets over the last few days and am hoping for
some advice before we head to the vet's office. He is
a 2-3 year old male ferret named Gonzo. He was given
to me a little over a year ago. He has been great up
until the last 3-5 days - maybe even 7 days. I've
noticed some weight loss and I rarely see him eat.
Over the last few days I have hand fed him dry kibble
(Marshall ferret food) and he takes it well as long as
there is water there too. He is not as active as he
usually is - seems to be sleeping more and more. The
other thing I've noticed is that he coughs a little
from time to time. He will play a little and still
gives the best kisses, but just seems very tired.
Also, his poop appears totally normal. I'm calling my
vet tomorrow morning and was hoping to have some ideas
before the call. Anyone have any thoughts on what
might be going on? There are 3 other ferrets in the
house and they are all doing fine. Any help is
appreciated.
Thanks,
Michelle
