Subject: [ferrethealth] Anal gland infection
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I was able to get my little Ohio rescue in today because I noticed that
one of her glands was swollen and hard, although still oozing oil.
Turns out she has an anal gland infection and is on a combination of
Amoxcycillin and Metronidozole for the next 2 weeks. The vet has
recommended that she be descented once the infection clears up because
there is a high probability it will reinfect, which can lead to other
health problems in future.
Wondering about diet? She is currently on Innova EVO Ferret and I will
be supplementing that with A/D. Any other suggestions would be
appreciated.
In terms of progress, she has made friends with one of the sprites and
is developing a friendship with another one.
Thanks!
Tressie
