Of course, there is the old standby of stirring the soup to avoid hot spots and feeling it, but
we swear by our Raytek minitemp infrared thermometer "gun". Steve says that one may not
be in production right now but others will be. The one we have is so sensitive that it is
possible to even look at skin areas to tell if an area is hot enough to possibly be infected
compared to surrounding tissue even before other signs show, and for soup it is great to
get the about 102' degrees that our ferrets like for their first laps.

Just skimming for info for those who are interested (and we think that Amazon may stock
them as well):

Plenty more come up on Google.
