Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Totally Ferret Hypoallergenic food & EGE
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

instead of the a/d try the evo dog canned food. it's 95% meat and
comes in rabbit, beef, venison, duck and chicken/turkey mix. my vet
approved using this instead of the a/d for my ibd girl as i really
didn't want to add grains back into the diet - especially in view of
the flare-up she was experiencing (didn't want to aggravate things any
further).

make sure to get the one marked 95% meat...they also have a canned dog
food that is not all meat and the feline canned is not all meat,
either.

the rabbit has gone over particularly well with my kiddies! i would
not recommend any of the poultry versions in your situation just in
case there is an allergy issue. plus, the red meat has the taurine,
so i'd stick with rabbit or beef (the venison is lower in fat so that
wouldn't be good with the ege).

as for kibble - try adding in the evo dog small bites red meat to the
ferret/feline (again, in case there's an allergy issue with the
chicken what is being eaten will be a mix and that might help the
situation). the evo dog kibble has taurine in it. granted a bit lower
than the ferret/feline versions - if you're mixing it (as i do, with
my vets approval) then the amount provided should be sufficient. i
mix the two kibbles half and half.
