Hi, Jess. It could be minor, like an allergy or dust, or it could be
something more serious. An x-ray can show the condition of the lungs.
I would hope that you not return him to the pet store if he has any
issues, as they will return him and he may ultimately be put to sleep.

If he is ill, and a Marshall Farms ferret, they will usually cover the
vet bills if you document the illness from purchase time and keep your
receipts. If it turns out to be something more than you can handle, I
would suggest letting this group know and attempting to find someone
who is willing to take on the challenge.

It is always a risk that your pet will get sick when you add one to
the family. It is also part of the responsibility of pet ownership.
You chose him and invited him in to your family, and although it may
cost a little more to treat him than to replace him, it is still your
responsibility to care for him. Please let us know what you learn
about him. Thanks.

renee
