Thanks Sukie for this info, but we did discuss the option of Diazoxide and Pred, and also surgery. He couldnt find any visable insulinomas so didnt feel surgery was an option at this time. I didnt like the option of Pred and Diaz, as I knew he would continue to decline... yea it would stabilize him for a while... but for how long? So we discussed a small chemo study that had been done with ferrets, and we felt River was a good candidate for it since we are thinking we caught this early with him. This vet is pretty well known, and I trust his judgement. I know this isnt the regular protocol, but I just want my boy with me for as long as possible. But what I dont understand is how I could visually see a great improvement in him since in the beginning of March (after his 2nd chemo), and then his glucose test could come out to 41? Its just very odd, I had an insulinomic girl a couple of years back, so I know what low glucose looks like, and he wasnt acting like a 41.
Even the vet (this is the one who is covering for Riv's regular vet) admitted he was very baffled by the reading.
Thanks,
Andrea
