I have never understood this 'fashion' for descenting ferrets, it

you do not like the normal ferrety smell then why have them
at all.
Maybe something is unnerving your ferret, perhaps an
unusually loud or different noise is occuring outside. My ferrets
are often spooked by unexpected noises from outside the
house (put they don't poof). In eight years I have only had
one poof from one ferret (and it was very smelly).
Incidently in the UK descenting is regarded as mutilation and
no vet would do the surgery except for a medical reason.

Something is disturbing your ferret, their hearing is more acute
than ours and some ferrets tend to be more easily spooked
than others. Do you notice her suddenly running to hide
unexpectedly?
I have noticed that all my ferrets (all girls, all neutered) tend to
smell more at the time they get their new spring coats, some
kind of seasonal thing perhaps.
