Subject: [ferrethealth] Need advice for sick ferret

My ferret has been getting progressively more lethargic over the past
4 to 5 days. He has stopped eating and drinking. His gums and nose
are pale, and his skin is starting to tent. He is also developing
ascites. I took him to a non-ferret vet today, and he had no idea
what is going on. He suggested heartworms and referred me to LSU in
Baton Rouge for an ultrasound in the morning. Any advice or input
would be apprechiated.
