Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] difficulty walking, possible cardio-respiratory problem, possible spinal problem
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I wrote about Nipper yesterday, the ferret who has problems walking
and was diagnosed with arthritis. The problems walking came on
suddenly approx. 2 weeks ago. I don't think it is arthritis. He is
in a lot of pain and is on Metacam and after his dose he is somewhat
better but after walking around for 10-15 minutes you can see that the
pain becomes very bad. I took him to my vet today and she listened to
his heart and it was very fast and didn't slow down even though Nipper
was relaxed.
Can heart disease cause so much pain to the point where he can barely
crawl? I don't know if this is of any importance but earlier I
watched him breath and his pink nose tuned white with every breath he
took, like he was breathing in very hard. I never noticed this sort
of thing and don't know whether it is an indicator for anything. He
sounds a bit chesty again and he was treated for a chest infection
about 1 1/2 weeks ago but I am wondering whether it is fluid.
