If it is cardiac he could have thrown a saddle thrombus, which is a
clot that lodges at the place where the aorta braches off to the 2
rear limbs. This condition is extremely painful and treatment
success is small. It is worth a try but most that I know have decide
agains due to the amount of pain and discomfort. Diagnosis is by
signs and appearance. I am not certain if the newer diagnostics like
CT or MRI would pick it up. Just my impression based on your
description. See what your vet might think about that. Best to you
