Subject: [ferrethealth] Anyone familiar with corynebacterium?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My 10 year old ferret has a lump under his chin, which was cleaned
out, cultured, and pasturella was found. He has also been having
difficulty urinating, with an extended bladder. He had adrenal surgery
a month ago, and his left/right(the difficult one) was removed. A few
weeks ago the difficulty urinating began again. Last week the vet
drained his very large bladder, and removed very cloudy urine. It was
sent away to culture. The results came back today as corynebacterium,
with an extremely high concentration of 100,000+ /mL.

We are trying to find the correct antibiotic to treat this. The vet
says this bacteria is very rare in ferrets. Has anyone had any
experience with this?

Thank you for any information you can give us.
Sharon
