That could really make sense. The valve that exists between the
sinuses and outer surroundings of the eye sometimes is not present
in some mammals as a genetic difference, and other times it can
fail. (In such individuals if they blow their noses when the eyes
are very wet you can at times see little bubbles being blown in the
inner corner of the eye.

It may also make sense to see if there may be a fistula from the sinus.
When draining sinus infections can eat backward into the brain cavity
(a very bad thing but luckily very rare), down into the mouth, or can
eat sideways through to the face (which is actually one of the scarred
features which conclusively proved the identity of one of WWII main
Nazi leaders by Snow (or Maple? Not sure which) and the team of
other forensic anthropologists who excavated his grave in South
America). So, keep a possible fistula in mind.
