To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

What tests have been done? Results?

Age of ferret?

Are the changes pronounced or just slight?

An increasingly pear shape could be caused by
fat distribution which makes the thorax skinny
while increasing abdomen fat. Adrenal growths
can also cause muscle loss.

An increasing pear shape can also happen when
weight loss is accompanied by fluid retention (ascites)
and some causes for that are cardiomyopathy (and
the hypertrophic form is hard to spot without a
chest ultrasound), lymphoma, kidney disease, liver
disease, etc. Each of these could also cause exhaustion
and muscle loss.

If the symptoms are pronounced then all of the above
are among the possibilities to investigate at the
current level of info provided and if I did not misread
it.
