Subject: [ferrethealth] Onions in chicken broth
To: "FHL" <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

I just searched the FHL archives for information on onions and ferrets.

The search turned up baby food containing onion powder.
Some thought there would be so very little it would not be a problem, others thought it best avoided.

I have a friend that uses canned low salt chicken broth when making her chicken gravy for her ferrets.
I mentioned that the broth contained both onion and garlic, that *might* not be good for ferrets.

My opinion is the broth would contain more onion than what would be in baby food, but enough to be harmful?

All thoughts appreciated

Ardith
