Subject: [ferrethealth] ferret stepped on - red gums
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

yes, even after 20 years and 20 ferrets, i was not
paying attention and stepped, barefooted, on my raven.
she squished. i paniced, too her to the emergency dr,
they did xrays and said nothing is broke but with her
labored breathing, she might have fluid in her lungs.
i took her home, kept her on a heating pad, now i'm
giving her chicken gravy every two hours, her pain
meds every 8, and just keeping an eye on her.

my questions is, right after i stepped on her, she
went red - her gums, her pads, her skin, then went
back to pink. she was also thrashing around like she
went blind. what was the cause of those things?
internal bleeding? there appears to be no bruising at
all.

thank you. and please pray for her.
