Subject: [ferrethealth] Coughing Ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
4.5 month old male Marshall Ferret
Lively, alert, eating well, defecating and urinating normal.
Everything has been great since I got him just 3 months ago in
January. He hasn't demonstrated any problems. We took him for his
second round of canine distemper 2 months ago and rabies 2 months ago.
No reactions, doing great. He's on heart worm preventative and has
never had a problem with it.
He has been coughing quite a bit lately. I've checked him for runny
nose and lethargy, but he appears normal, no problems. The coughing
has been escalating the past couple (2) days, and we're starting to
get a little concerned because he has never done this before. I'm
worried it could be something serious like cardiomyopathy but he's
seems really young for this. I've also considered that he might have
a cold.
I don't really know if I should schedule an appointment with our vet
or if I'm overreacting. Like I said, he's enregetic, eating, and
using the bathroom normally, but if anybody has any ideas I'm open to
them.
Thanks!
