Pred is also a medication ( as is lasix) utilized in the treatment of
cardio ( heart) related problems.
Swelling can also be caused from cardiomyopathy ( I posted this in earlier
in the thread)
It can also be caused if lymphs are enlarged and pressing againstthe heart
( lymphoma) .

But taken into account the tumor possibility- there are retrobulbar tumors
( behind the eye) , ear tumors, etc which will effect the walking /
mobility of ferrets. We have seen these all here at the shelter.

Sometimes treating these conditions with pred lessens the effects. I
would say that your ferret indeed needs to have a full work up to identify
what the problem is so a treatment plan to manage quality of life can be
implemented.
