a ferret knowledgeable vet can pick up haeart murmurs but sometimes they
are not present. Usuallu a radiograph to check for a rounding ( unusal
shape indicates thickened heart muscle tissue) or enlargement. More in
dept assessment would then be done by ultrasound to find out which type of
cardiomyopathy the ferret has. Knowing which type is required for
prescription treatment.

If your ferret is eating well, and voiding well I would monitor him /
her , however if the ferret is having other problems ,
lethargy, swelling in the body cavity or breathing issues I would take it
in sooner.
