Have you reached maximum effective dosages on both the Pred and Proglycem? How much are you giving daily, and what are the strengths of both medicines ??? How old is the ferret?

If in fact you have maxxed out the meds, then you must consider what kind of quality of life your ferret has left, and if giving him quick fixes of sugar is really the kindest thing you can do for him. After four years of meds and two partial pancreatectomies, there may not be anything more you can do but to help his last days or weeks to be peaceful. If you are trying to keep him alive with sugar pills, you could be setting him up for a horrible crash and seizure. That is not how you want to lose him. Knowing when to help them to leave this world is a very hard decision to make, but at some point it must be made in his best interest.

I am curious, My ferret has insulinoma and has had it for 4 years. He
has had partial pancrectomy, and another one. The pred doesnt work any
more and the proglycem doesnt work. I saw glucose tablets at the
pharmacy. They deliver 4 grams of fast acting carbohydrates with no
sodium and no cafeine. Would this help bring his glucose up ? would it
be something to try ?
