Subject: [ferrethealth] Maximum Dose Question
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I keep reading "maximum doses" or "maxed out" for Pediapred and
Diazoxide for insulinomic ferrets, but I can't find what people
consider these to be. (I tried searching Sukie, I really did:))

What is considered the maximum dose? We are at 1.3cc of
Pediapred(6.7/5M) and 1.2 of Diazoxide(50mg/ml). I read where Sukie
said she went up to 5 mg three times a day for one of her ferrets.

My 6 1/2 yr old ferret, who has insulinoma(last glucose was in the
80s) and adrenal and hepatitis(sorry don't have the whole panel) , is
having increased hind-end weakness and is having trouble getting in
and out of his cage and negotiating the ramps in the cage. Plus he is
having trouble walking on our wood floors. He is eating, drinking,
going to the bathroom, and is alert. I have an email into our vet(and
am prepared to go to the ER is things downgrade), but I am hoping I
can get a headstart here.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Ashlie
