Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: cloth eating
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I know of a ferret I adopted out who ate many shirts and boxers. And
funny enough it turned out that if it smelled good to him, he ate it.
Only mineral oil would get it out of him and help it pass, and it would
come out for up to a week. He was a free range ferret at my rescue with
no health problems. We found out that he singled out things due to the
smell because (oddly enough) he would eat only certain parts of the
clothing, ie, the armpit and (you know) area LOL!!!

In cases like that you just need to get fabric that you know he can't
possibly chew (like denim, or canvas) for hammies and other things, and
make sure no fabric is in the cage or available for stealing and
munching on secretly later on.
