maybe it is the new washing powder i am trying.....

Thanks for those of you who respond to this email to share your symptomes

PLEASE be careful and check w/your vet before using any kind of sprays or OTC treatments for external and internal parasites. (I don't know where you got the mite spray you refer to, but jyst thought I mention it). Just because a manufacturer says it's safe for ferrets or any other animal doesn't mean it is. I have seen several cases of animals becoming ill from OTC products, even after the Hartz recall and reformulation of several years ago-fur loss, skin rash, drooling, to worse: seizures, organ damage, etc.... It's also besdt to be sure that's the problem before appplky9ing meds.

(EX: we have clients keep their antibiotic ear meds after their dog's ear infection clears up, and they just start using it again when the dog's ears get itchy again. Problem? If it is bacterial, they asren't dosing it properly or not using it for the right length of time, or stop before it's gone, which makes the bacteria more resistant. Or it turns out to be a yeast infection, not bacterial, this time, and it's out of control by the time they come in. Or the drum is damaged and they're hurting it w/ whatever meds they're using.) This happens w/ humans, too,, which is why we're seeing dangerous increases in bacterial resistance to formerly effective antibiotics...

It's really always best to check with a vet before treating or medicating your pets of any type with anything. I am a tech and experienced ferret owner, and with few exceptions, even when I "know" what needs to be done, I still bounce it off my DVMs first.

Best,

April (vet tech and ferret mom)
