Subject: [ferrethealth] palliative care
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hi again,
I have posted recently about a 8 y.o. male ferret with fluid in the
thoracic cavity. The vet had suggested a ultrasound, but says that
there is not any good prognosis re: what is causing this at this age.
He says there is not much point to the ultrasound, because treatment is
unlikely to help much.
Anyway, Rocky is currently on prednisolone and florinef. I know these
can be hard on his system and am wondering if it would be better just
to take him off them at this point. He still seems to enjoy hanging
around, but when it gets too hard for him we will take him into the vet
for euthanasia.
Any ideas on how to make his last bit of time as enjoyable as possible
would be appreciated.
