Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: new ferret to our home is deaf idea's for training her to come to us?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I cuurently have 3 deaf kids.
They learn quickly to take their cues from watching the hearing kids.
Simple hand motions work for me; the 'come here' beckoning potion, the finger wagging
for "no", etc. Involve treats in the line up, and try not to come up behind the deaf kid
unawares, lest every time he sees motion he'll scurry away from you. You want him to
come to you, so approach from the front whenever possible.
Basically, be consistent in your signals, so he understands just whats expected of him.
