I do make ground meat mixture meatballs for Josie and then freeze
them.

SHe gets two or three of these a week. I mainly do this so that if by
chance she does get sick I have something familiar to feed her that
she will eat and that I can hide meds in if needed. Also it is a way
to add fats to her diet.

I mix every ground meat I can get my hands on!
The highest fat ground beef available. There rest of the ground meats
are usually labeled "lean" but I still use them:
Ground chicken
Ground turkey
Ground pork
Ground Lamb

a pound of each to which I then add a half dozen raw beaten eggs,
sometimes I sprinkle some dry "Duk soup mix" into the mess.

mash all this together and either stuff it into ice cube trays or
make little meatballs.

Pork farmed today is so genetically pure and housed practically
antiseptically (well as much as you can get in a pig barn), they are
not fed "slop" anymore but scientifically formulated diets to pack on
muscle quickly so trichinosis really has become a thing of the past.

Oddly enough trichinosis mAY be something to worry about if you
obtain "organic" pork.
