Just to make it clear, all of these stones are uroliths.

To get an idea of the possible range of uroliths
among species go to

http://www.herringlab.com/

and click on the photo pages of kidney stones.

There is a ferret struvite stones photo there, but
not other ferret urolith types the last time I looked
at each photo.

"Lith" means "stone" and I'll bet you can think of
the root which "uro" comes from. Like most medical
names the name makes sense once broken down, for
example, Insulinoma breaks down to a growth that
results in extra insulin being produced. Oma means
a tumor or neoplasm, and you know what insulin is.
Neo means new or recent, etc...

Sometimes they can get confusing, for instance, I had
confused "varus" in "varus ankle" with "variation"
instead of realizing that it referred to being changed
in a way that turned the foot inward. Once the
breakdown is seen, though, many medical terms
become much more clear.
