I'm not a pro with ADV like Danee is, but I've seem many, many ferrets quit using their hind legs when they become ill or injured. They barely move their legs as they drag themselves across the floor.

I have also had a personal ferret who developed a paraperises(sp?).

Her legs were locked out straight behind her and would not bend at all at the knees or hips. This developed over serveral days and then took about 2-3 weeks and it went away completely. I don't know if the physical therapy of exercising her legs caused them to begin working normally again or not. She was put on prednisolone.

A local vet saw a few more cases of this. It struck one business member and not others, then it just went away. This was in 1999.

I posted a request all over the internet asking if anyone else had experienced this but no answers ever came back.

One pathologist emailed me and said that it is common for a ferret who is ill or injured to quit using his/her hind limbs.

My point is are you sure it's the ADV causing this problem?
