Oh, gosh. Thanks for the update but I am
sorry to read such bad news. It certainly
does sound like something neural. Let me
see what past vet neural posts and vet text
article CNS mentions I may be able to pull up
to give further direction.

In _Biology and Diseases of the Ferret, second
ed_ it is noted that Listeriosis can attack the
Central Nervous System in ferrets. It can be
gotten from contaminated food or soil, or
from infected animals from either ingestion
or inhalation, with in utero infection being
a maybe because it can happen in other
species, and Listeriosis can remind people
roughly of rabies according to page 343.
I'll later see if I have time to search PubMed
for articles on it but if I don't you will wanto
check that website.
TREATMENT for Listeriosis according to the text:
Broad spectrum antimicrobials such as penicillin
and ampicillin. "In vitro listeria isolates are also
usually senstiive to Chloramphenicol,
tetracycline, erythromycin, and cephalothin"

I'll send this now before it times out and come
on with more as i find it.
