I know you said that your cabinets are all locked, but is there anyway someone in the house has taken meds --- could someone have dropped a pill..

BS 176 is VERY HIGH... if he ate/licked a pill he found, then the sugar in the pill could account for the BS while the medicine could account for the psychosis.

I can't think of a poisonous plant whose sap would elevate his BG and make him psychotic.. But that doesn't mean it can't be..

Just to beat a dead horse.. are you SURE he can't get into your cabinets.. the only reason I ask is because I had child locks on each kitchen cabinet in one house and yet my darlin fuzzies could open the cabinets just a tad and get in.. then they usually needed me to open the cabinets to let them out (or maybe they just had me trained).. anyway.. it's a possibility..

How long have you had him?

As for suffering.. did he just scream that once.. or is it ongoing. distemper will cause them to scream from pain, but you said no distemper.. there's a thought -- pain -- could he have stepped on something that you haven't seen... something lodged in his foot or wherever... oooohhhhh next thoughts not good.. did your vet palpate him all over to determine if he had any sore spots... tender areas..

With him biting now -- I'm picturing a rabid ferret, totally crazy, trying hard to remove your skin - would that be accurate? Is he trying hard to get to you or just "don't come near my mouth" .. sorta

This is hard... not seeing him... where do you live.. I don't know how experienced your vet is with ferrets.. maybe he's terrific and had a lot of experience, but if you can get to someone else just for a looksee... who knows...
