While there are non-classical aspects, and while
I think the chance of rabies is incredibly low, I DO
think that it also is important to be careful to not
prematurely discount any possibilities with this
ferret, give the symptoms.
One problem that was highlighted in a letter which
precedes this year's _Compendium of Animal Rabies
Prevention and Control_ is about too many assuming
that neural disease in horses is West Nile and therefore
missing rabies.

The possibilities of some diseases just deserve extra
respect just in case, even when the chances of them are
small.
