__,_.I can't see it being rabies or distemper. he's not vomiting and has

Not long ago, we unfortunately had the chance to see some distemper cases here due to a dog vaccine registered for ferrets, too, containing live distemper virus, which caused disease in ferrets who got it as the first distemper shot. Based on the symptoms all vets agreed it was distemper and later it was proven by necropsy.
The symptoms differed some way in each ferret, but salivation, screaming, hallucination, seizures were quite common. Each ferret infected, developed symptoms within 3 weeks. Some had them days before they sadly died, others in the last few hours only and were fine with no symptoms until then. I can't actually remember vomiting or diarrhea but there may have been...
Two kits' were recorded with photo and video, which now we use for promoting the importance of vaccination. They are shocking but maybe helpful to compare? Of course, I agree that a necropsy would be the most reliable in deciding what caused this in your little boy. If it's possibly a distemper case, that's hopeless. I can remember only one case back to years when a kit survived it, but he had to be euthanized later because of his remaining condition.
