I had a ferret that had a tumor in his ear.
A ear ablation was done, but biopsy showed the cancer had spread to bone.

My ferret had a wonderful 5 more months before the tumor returned.

One day I noticed him acting *confused*, staring into space.
He also seemed frightened, and wanted to be held and comforted.

A exam determined he was completely blind, but no other real problem was apparent.
That night he went into seizure, acting very much like what you describe with your ferret.

We opted for euthanasia, and necropsy showed the cancer had invaded the brain.
Has your vet looked deep into the ears?
I do hope your little one recovers from whatever is causing this, it is very difficult to see them in such duress.
