Through trial and error we found that the best bedding is to leave the cage floor clean but to put lots of old shirts, towels, etc. on it. They are easily removed and sent through the washer and dryer. We had two sets, so that we could put one in the cage while the other was being laundered. We had a triangular litter box in one corner and used Fresh Step Cedar cat litter in it, which lessened the dust and kept things a lot cleaner. It also clumped very well. Litter or other types of paper or loose bedding all over the place is a lot less sanitary and has the potential to cause allergies or other respiratory problems. Neo was happier and we were happier after we changed over from the recycled paper floor covering we had been using, and I found that my allergies lessened considerably.
