Dear Vicki, I am going through the same thing with a ferret that I have taken in as a rescue. He (Ritchie) is suffering from severe shelter shock. His former owners, gave him and his brother Alex up at 4 years of age. I have been trying to syringe feed him also. Yesterday I think we turned every which way while trying to force feed him. And that's exactly what it was, force feeding. This ferret has given up, clenching his mouth shut as tight as he can get it. I haven't given up, but just try small feedings often. I don't like doing this, as I know he has chosen not to live, but I just can't give up yet. Caroline
