Does reducing salt intake help any of these ferrets? I really don't know. Very long ago we
were advised to try it for one who was in very early cardiomyopathy and for her it made no
difference.

We haven't had one with cardiomyopathy in a long time, but we found activity restrictions
important when cardiomyopathy became advanced, but I don't recall us being extra careful
earlier, though I could be remembering wrong.

I look forward to seeing the responses you get to find out what is more recent. I don't
think we have been hearing about quite as many cases in recent years, but that may just
be a wrong impression.

Meanwhile, go to the Archives and for earlier things go to the compilation in the Files
section of the FHL.

Most of the things on the web don't appear to be written by vets, and the web articles by
vets appear to be getting old. That is also true for many things by non-vets; I know that
the thing I wrote ages ago which appears in Miamiferret is outdated. It seems to be a
topic that could use a current popular vet article, esp. if one by a vet cardiologist could be
make available.

Here are some other resources but I don't know how recent they are:

(If you can't get that your vet may be able to.)

There are yet older vet write-ups but cardiac care is among the places where big strides
have been made.
