Okay. let's compare this small test to
http://www.miamiferret.org/fhc/physiology.htm
I am NOT good at blood tests but at least this will compare it to norms for ferrets rather
than other animals for the ones that I recognize.
What I do know is that it is too bad that this vet didn't do a more thorough blood test,
including things like bilirubin.
Also, does this vet know how enlarged spleens feel in ferrets?
Here are your number followed by means and acceptable ranges for ferrets
ALKP 52 u/l
>Alkaline Phosphatase (IU/L)
>37
>15-75
ALT 166 u/l
>ALT (IU/L)
>95
>13-176
BUN 15 mg/dl
>BUN (mg/dl)
>21
>8-37
CREA .7 mg/dl
>Creatinine (mg/dl)
>0.5
>0.16-0.84
GLU 145 ml/dl
>Glucose (fasted) (mg/dl)
>110
>65-164
TP 6.6 g/dl
>Total Protein (g/dl)
>5.8
>4.4-7.3
HCT 8.7%
HGB 3.1 g/dl
>Hemoglobin (g/dl)
>16.50
>13-18
(So, to my uneducated eye it looks like your ferret appears to be anemic but this is a very
rough number without refinements that would tell more.)
MCHC 35.6 g/dl
>MCHC
>33
>29-36
WBC 3.5 x10 (to the ninth)/l
>WBC (x103/mm3)
>5.22
>2.8-8.0
GRANS 2.5 x 10 n(to the ninth/l
%GRANS 71%
L/M 1.0 x 10 (to the ninth)/l
%L/M 29%
PLT 204 x10(to the ninth)/l
